Bio

Artist Milena Kühnau is based in Southern Germany. She speaks several languages and travels extensively in order to encounter the unexpected connectivity that fuels her work. As an installation/environmental artist, her work is often site-specific. She is also a mixed media painter and object artist, and experimental photography serves as a vital medium for her expression. Process gained increasing importance as her work developed. Her early use of traditional art materials expanded to include the influence of space, light, and atmosphere, along with the use of
on-site material. Kühnau has a background in science and philosophy, and undertook independent studies in various art mediums throughout Europe and the Middle East. She explores themes of humanity and inhumanity, confinement and rebellion, communication and transformation. Deeply connected to the energetic currents of nature and culture, she creates art that wants to act in communicative exchange with those who see it.
